Professor Teruo KOMAKI
(Head of School of Asia 21, Kokushikan University)
Date: February 23,2007
Time: 15:00 - 16:30
Place: FPCJ Conference Room (6th floor, Nippon Press Center Bldg.)
With regard to the issue of North Korea, the issue will go on capturing the attention of the media this year. While North Korea, purportedly armed with nuclear weapons, keeps up its brinkmanship diplomacy, it still maintains a strong stance in the Six-Party Talks. Therefore, the future prospects on the North Korea issues still look uncertain. In addition, the United States and Japan have launched various economic sanctions against North Korea. However, how much influence do they have? What kind of policies will surrounding countries like China, South Korea, and Russia talk?
FPC has asked Professor Teruo Komaki of Kokushikan University, a specialist on the Political Economy of Contemporary North and South Korea, to share his expertise and views on the present situation of North Korea’s nuclear weapons and its economy.
